Application for Membership
Membership of the Designer Art Shop Association (Alcove Art Shop) is subject to approval by the Alcove Committee of Management.
The committee require an “application for membership form” to be completed and submitted accompanied by examples of the artwork you wish to sell.
The benefits of being a member a working member includes the opportunity to:
- Sell your work in the shop
- Receive a regular newsletter
- Participate in two exhibitions a year
- Display and sell work at the Box Hill Town Hall
- Have work specially featured in the shop
- Interact with other like-minded artists.
The Association has two types of members:
Workers: These members work as sales staff or serve on the committee. The goods they sell are charged a commission of 20% unless the work is sold online when a joining fee of $30 is charged and commission will be 15%.
The benefits of being a working member are getting to know your fellow artists and customers and having input into the running of the shop.
Non-workers: These members are unable to work in the shop or serve on the committee. The goods they sell are charged a commission of 45% unless the work is sold online when a joining fee of $30 is charged and commission will be 15%. See policy for selling online.
All members must sell items in the shop to be eligible to sell online.
The annual subscription is $30, plus a one-off joining fee of $50. Pro-rata is worked out if new members join during the financial year.
