Membership of the Designer Art Shop Association (Alcove Art Shop) is subject to approval by the Alcove Committee of Management.
Any artist, who produces original work made and designed in Australia, is eligible to apply to join. The artworks need to made from quality materials displaying a high standard of technical skill.
The committee require an application for membership form to be completed and submitted accompanied by examples of the artwork you wish to sell.
The Association has two types of members:
- Workers: These members work as sales staff or serve on the committee. The goods they sell are charged a commission of 20%
- Non-workers: These members are unable to work in the shop or serve on the committee. The goods they sell are charged a commission of 45%.
Being a working member is strongly recommended as the benefits include the opportunity to:
- Sell your work in the shop;
- Receive a bi-monthly newsletter;
- Participate in two Exhibitions a year;
- Display and sell work at the Box Hill Town Hall;
- Have work especially featured in the shop;
- Participate with other like-minded artists
The annual subscription is $30, plus a one-off joining fee of $50. Pro-rata is worked out if new members join during the financial year.
